ABOUT ABOUT

Neil Simon hit his peak in 1991 with Lost in Yonkers, his finest achievement, and his only play to win a Pulitzer Prize. Set during World War II, the play concerns the plight of two boys forced to live with their stern German-born grandmother, while their father, Eddie, works to pay off a debt. The boys bond uneasily with their aunt Bella, a woman in her thirties with cognitive problems but a clear sense of self-worth, as she strives to break free from the loveless dominance of her mother, the boys’ grandmother.

San Miguel's local theatrical legend, Lola Smith, portraying the grandmother, leads a spectacular cast that includes Jocelynn Sunrise (Bella) and Neil Sklar (Eddie), accomplished actors who moved to San Miguel just this year. Fil Formicola plays the boys' gangster uncle, Louis, and Kate Rowland portrays their ailing Aunt Gertrude. Two newcomers, Joey Pawelko and Anwar Saadi, boy actors of exceptional talent, round out the cast. Lost in Yonkers is presented in English with projected supertitles in Spanish. It is great entertainment for the entire family, and sure to be ranked among the finest theatrical productions ever seen in San Miguel.
